Real Wedding: Rain Plan

If you’re hosting an outdoor wedding at Willowdale Estate, we make sure to have a rain plan in place incase sky opens up. Abbey and Nate had a rainy summer wedding, but the weather did not interfere with their party plans. Here’s how to make drizzly days perfect!

🌨️ A location that’s ready for New England weather – Our Sperry Tent is always equipped with floor-length clear side panels for inclement weather which makes it a great spot for covered outdoor ceremonies. At Willowdale Estate there is an awning that connects the tent and the mansion for a protected pathway. The outdoor event areas are landscaped with stone patios and smooth concrete tent flooring so that guests do not have to walk through wet grass, dirt driveways, or gravel to get to and from the ceremony and cocktail hour. Your favorite pair of wedding day shoes will thank you!

🌨️ Plenty of places for portraits – Having outdoor AND indoor options is a must! Our historic arts and crafts style mansion provides beautiful spaces to take portraits. Enjoy nooks with intricate wood details, cozy fireplaces, stained glass backdrops, a glass conservatory with wooded views, and elegant getting ready suites.

🌨️ Rain Accessories – Clear umbrellas and rain boots are great to have for outdoor photos. They can even double as a wedding party favor!

Willowdale Estate is located in Topsfield, Massachusetts. We only host one wedding a day, which gives our clients private access to our fieldstone mansion, garden courtyard, and Sperry Tent for outdoor weddings in May – October.
